How to File a Delay TDR on IRCTC (Step-by-Step)

1

Verify Boarding Station Delay

Check the live delay on RailTrack to ensure arrival delay at your specific boarding station exceeds 3 hours (181+ minutes).

2

Access IRCTC Booked Tickets

Log into the IRCTC website or Rail Connect app and go to My Account → My Transactions → Booked Ticket History.

3

Select File TDR Option

Open the booked PNR and select File TDR, selecting the passenger names not traveling.

4

Select Reason: Train Running Late Over 3 Hours

Choose the late arrival reason from the dropdown. Once submitted, your refund is queued with CRIS.

The Critical Deadline: Submitting Before Departure

The most frequent reason passengers lose refund eligibility is filing after the train has departed.

Railway regulations are strict: the TDR must be filed before the train physically leaves your boarding platform. If submitted even five minutes following departure, system records flag the ticket as an un-boarded "No Show" and reject the refund request.
