Summary: RailTrack is an independent, ad-free passenger utility built for Indian Railways commuters. We do not sell your personal data, do not display commercial advertising networks, and do not track your location for advertising or behavioral profiling. Location data is processed locally on your device to calculate live train running status, speed, and destination alarms.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how RailTrack ("we", "us", or "our"), available as an Android application and web service at https://railtrack.nocodingguru.com, collects, uses, processes, and protects your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using RailTrack, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the application.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

A. Location Data (GPS and Network-Based)

RailTrack requires access to your device's location to deliver its core train tracking features:

Precise Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION): Used while viewing the live journey screen to compute train speed (in km/h), measure progress along physical track geometry, and calculate remaining distance to upcoming halts.
Approximate Location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION): Used to detect nearby railway stations for departure board suggestions and regional timetable updates.
Background Location: If you explicitly enable a "Station Arrival Alarm" or "Destination Wake-Up Alert", RailTrack monitors your distance to your destination station in the background to sound an audio alert when you are within 10 km of arrival. Background location access ceases once the alarm triggers or is dismissed.

Data Handling Notice: Location coordinates are processed locally on your device within our sensor fusion filter. They are never uploaded to external servers, never sold, and never shared with third-party data brokers.

B. Cellular Network Telemetry (Cell Tower ID)

To provide offline train tracking inside steel LHB coaches where cellular data is unavailable, RailTrack reads passive cell tower identifiers (MCC, MNC, LAC, CID) from nearby telecommunication towers.

These identifiers are cross-referenced with a local, offline database stored on your device to determine which railway track section you are passing through. No phone numbers, SIM card credentials, voice data, or text messages are ever accessed or collected.

C. Search History and Offline Storage

To allow quick access to your frequently searched trains and routes without requiring repeated internet queries, RailTrack stores the following data locally on your device (via Web Storage / IndexedDB):

Recent train number searches (e.g., 12951, 12002).
Recent station code queries (e.g., NDLS, CSMT).
Saved journey preferences and custom alarm distance thresholds.
Display preferences (Dark/Light mode) and chosen language.

You can erase this cached data at any time by selecting Clear search history or Clear Cache in the app menu.

D. Financial and Credit Card Information (Lounge Checker)

RailTrack includes a Railway Lounge directory that displays complimentary access benefits for Indian credit and debit cards.

Strict Card Data Disclosure: The Lounge Checker is strictly an offline informational catalog. RailTrack never asks for, collects, stores, or transmits credit card numbers, expiry dates, CVVs, PINs, or banking passwords. Users merely select or search card product names (e.g., "IDFC First Select") to view public lounge policies.

E. User Feedback and Rating Submissions

If you voluntarily submit feedback or a rating through the in-app feedback dialog:

We collect your star rating and optional comments to diagnose bugs and improve application reliability.
If you choose to provide an optional email address for support, it is used exclusively to respond to your technical inquiry.

3. Permissions Requested and Justification

`FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION`	Special / Foreground	Maintains persistent on-board trip tracking and station distance computations in Android system notification tray.
`SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM` & `USE_EXACT_ALARM`	Special	Ensures destination wake-up alarms ring accurately to the exact second when nearing destination halts.

4. Zero Third-Party Advertising and Analytics

RailTrack does not contain third-party advertising SDKs (such as Google AdMob, Unity Ads, Facebook Audience Network, or AppLovin). We do not display banner advertisements, interstitial pop-ups, or rewarded video ads.

We do not use invasive third-party cross-app behavioral tracking SDKs.

5. External Services and Public APIs

To display accurate railway schedules and map visuals, RailTrack communicates with:

National Train Enquiry System (NTES / CRIS): Public timetable and train status data queries.
OpenRailwayMap / OpenStreetMap: Public railway track geometry vector and tile rendering.

These requests transmit only standard network parameters (requested train number or station code) and do not pass personal user identifiers.

6. Data Retention and Deletion Rights

Because your operational travel data is stored locally on your device rather than our servers:

User-Controlled Deletion: You can wipe all search history, cached timetables, and saved preferences instantly by tapping Clear search history in the navigation drawer or Reset Local Data in App Settings.
Application Uninstall: Uninstalling the RailTrack application automatically erases all locally cached files and application storage from your device.
Support Requests: If you have submitted feedback with your email address and wish to request its deletion from our records, email us directly at [email protected].

7. Children's Privacy

RailTrack is a general-audience passenger navigation application. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

8. Security Safeguards

We implement industry-standard technical security measures to protect your interactions:

All outbound network communications utilize HTTPS with TLS 1.3 encryption.
Offline database files are stored within secure application-sandboxed directories on Android.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological updates, regulatory standards, or changes in application functionality. Any revisions will be published at this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of RailTrack following changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
